FABRIC & SPECS
Heavyweight (6.1 oz)
6.1 oz heavyweight tee • Garment-dyed for lived-in softness • Relaxed fit • Our most premium fabric
We use a mix of high-contrast sharp prints and subtle, distressed 'vintage' textures depending on the design's heritage. Check the zoom-in photos for the specific vibe of this shirt
CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Care instructions:
First wash: cold, with darks — garment-dyed colour can bleed a little the first time. After that it settles down
Wash inside out, cold water
Tumble dry low or hang dry
Don't iron directly on the print
Skip the bleach
Your shirt won't explode if you use warm water — after that first wash, anyway. We just like cold better for print longevity.

Photographer-owned. Technically accurate.
Twenty-five years of 4am alarms, missed shots and lenses I didn't need. Every setting on these shirts is one I've actually used. Every joke, I've been the punchline.
📸 Designed by a working photographer 🌍 Printed to order, shipped worldwide ✅ 99-day guarantee — keep the shirt, no returns
– Martin (yes, that is me, face in the sand next to the penguins)
Worn by photographers. All kinds.
Wildlife, street, wedding, film, the camera club Tuesday crowd and the once-a-year holiday shooter. Different cameras, same 4am alarms. Every shirt is tracked to your door, and if it's wrong I sort it — no return, no forms, no chatbot. Just me (Martin), and I answer.
The shirt has to earn it too.
A good design on a bad shirt is still a bad shirt. Two weights, both proper: the Classic is 4.5 oz ring-spun cotton — light, soft, the one you reach for without thinking. The Heavyweight is 6.1 oz garment-dyed — substantial, broken-in from the first wash, and it stays that way.
Pre-shrunk, printed to order, built to survive fieldwork. I've worn worse, and I'm not selling it.
Store owner replied:
Thanks Jacques — and thank you for the photo, which does more for the shirt than anything I could write. Freezing time is a perfectly respectable superpower, and clearly the fit agrees with you. Glad it landed well. Martin
Store owner replied:
Thanks Kristin. "No Filter" reviewed with no filter — fitting. The military green suits that design well, and the photo says more than I could. Martin
This Exposure shirt is awesome! Love the fit, and the graphic is printed very nicely. Highly recommend.
Store owner replied:
Thanks Douglas. The Exposure Triangle is one of the designs I'm quietly proudest of, so it's good to hear the print does it justice. Wear it well. Martin
I LOVE your shirts. The "WHAT THE F" shirt was for a friend. I have a photo of her and myself wearing your shirt and her wearing that one, but don't have her permission to give it to you. I said that in a private email to Marty. I have not worn all of the new ones yet, but I love them regardless. they're ALL GREAT. NEVER had a problem with ANY OF THEM! TOP QUALITY!! Keep up the great work! Will buy more when I can.
Store owner replied:
Thanks Jim. Glad the F found a good home, and a friend who'll wear it in public is the right kind of friend. Appreciate you looking after her privacy on the photo too. Enjoy working through the rest of them. M
Not only is my Last name Shutter. But I'm also a photographer and Hall of Fame Track and Field inducted athlete in Corning NY. Along with coaching Track and xcountry. So this tee hits home on many levels. I'm also a cancer survivor. While battling stage 4 melanoma I still coached Track and xcountry along with photographing our events. So remember every day is a good day. Thank you for giving me time to share my story.

Store owner replied:
Thanks, Brent. The Lens Cap does its job — glad it's doing it on your shirt too. Martin
My favorite shirts, I have three so far. They fit great, look great, feel great and great customer service! They are like photography equipment, you can't have just one.
Store owner replied:
Beth, three shirts in one photo — that's the kind of customer loyalty I can't buy. "Like photography equipment, you can't have just one" sums it up better than I ever have. Glad they're fitting and wearing well, and thanks for taking the time to send the photo. Martin
Love the shirt - excellent quality and fair price.
Store owner replied:
Thanks Susan. Plenty of people buy the shirt — you're the first with the matching registration. F8B THR on the plate means you were living the advice long before I got round to printing it; the shirt's just catching the car up. Weegee would approve of both. One of the best customer photos I've had in, and much appreciated. Martin
Quality material and excellent fit.
Very soft and comfortable.
I love it!!
Store owner replied:
Thanks Jerry. Glad the fit and comfort hold up — and the shirt clearly found a good home. Appreciate the photo too; always good to see them out in the wild. Martin
Wonderful shirt. Fits and feels great. Good price, friendly people. Fast delivery. Would definitely deal with this vendor again! Any photographer should be proud to wear one of these shirts!
Store owner replied:
Appreciate this, Stefan. "Proud to wear" is about the highest bar I aim for, so that lands with me. Glad the fit and the turnaround both worked out. — Martin
The Aperture Threads T-shirts are a lot of fun. The messages are spot-on for photographers, and generate questions from non-photographers. They seem well made.
I bought three of them, and there are a few more I plan to get. Recommended for photographers and photography nerds.
Store owner replied:
Taking the time to actually film a review is properly generous, so thank you for that. The non-photographers asking questions is my favourite side effect — a shirt that works on two audiences at once is doing more than it was asked to. Three down, and there's plenty waiting whenever you come back for the rest. Martin
My favorite thing about wearing this shirt is I get to talk about 3 of my favorite things. Museum staff and photographers alike will think you are the coolest. Fair warning, if you wear it at a National Monument, you will be asked to take pictures from everyone in a 20ft radius. On, and it is very comfortable.
Store owner replied:
Jordan, comfort, conversation starter and now unofficial monument photographer — move over ISO, aperture and f-stop, we have a new trinity. Enjoy.
— Martin
Every staff member at Mount Vernon complimented the shirt. I was happy to tell them where I got it.
Store owner replied:
Jordan, that’s brilliant — thank you.
Getting compliments from the staff at Mount Vernon feels like proper historical approval. Really appreciate you spreading the word, and I’m glad the big lens made an impression.
Cheers,
Martin
Ordering was easy, delivery was quick.
Shirt is great. I ordered M and it seems well sized. Nice!!
Store owner replied:
Bob,
Good to see it out in the wild, and on someone who clearly gets the joke. That diagram is about as close to the truth as I'm willing to commit to in print — it's light, then magic, then a bit more light, and anyone who tells you otherwise is overcomplicating it. Glad the M landed where it should and that it got to you quickly. Wear it well.
Martin
T shirt is well made and fits perfectly. Again, the message on it is clever and is a welcome addition to my collection of t shirts from Aperture threads.
Store owner replied:
Timothy — the collection's turning into a proper run now, and yours is one of the names I actually recognise coming through. Knowing you'll be back for the next clever line is about the best thing a one-man shop can hear. Pleased this one fits and earns its place alongside the rest.
Martin
Started my photography way back (first SLR Pentax S1a) and although now been digital since early noughties still bring out my Dad's refurbished Nikon FE occasionally - so Field Scale T -Shirt really chimed when I saw it.
Love the glimpse of recognition from fellow analogues when passing by.
Store owner replied:
A Pentax S1a is a serious starting point. The fact that the Nikon FE still comes out occasionally says everything — once it's in the blood it doesn't really leave. That's exactly the moment the Field Scale design was made for. Glad it's finding its people. Thanks for taking the time to write that. Martin
Great service , love the shirt and the subtle message only a photographer understands. Steve Turner Australia
Store owner replied:
Thanks Hans — made my day seeing this. Enjoy the shooting. Martin.
I love this T shirt. I have two others, I love them all. I wear a uniform at work, I get home I want that logo off my chest!
These are my go to choices.
Store owner replied:
Duncan that's what it's all about — clock off, ditch the uniform, put on something that actually means something. Glad we're the go-to. Great photo too, thanks for sharing it. Martin
I really love this shirt and it's part of my every day. I work as a fine art printer, and a colorist for television and color management and the zone system are all friends of mine.
Store owner replied:
Von, coming from someone who works with colour management and fine art printing every day, that's about the best endorsement the Zone System tee could get. Really glad it's found the right home. Martin
Store owner replied:
Now THAT is how you wear a tee. Great shot, Lynn — thanks for sharing it. Martin
My two passions are hiking and photography and often both activities are done at the same time. I was excited to see this shirt and immediately ordered one!
It's my second shirt from Aperture Threads and it won't be my last! Keep up the good work!
Store owner replied:
That's a great look — and I couldn't agree more, the best shots are always earned on the trail. Really glad this one spoke to you, and thanks for sharing the photo. Looking forward to seeing what catches your eye next. Martin
This tee feels and fits so nicely! I have already had so many compliments on it.
Store owner replied:
Glad it landed, Dan — that's exactly the reaction it's designed for. Appreciate the kind words on the print and fabric too. Wear it well. Martin
I love wearing Photog shirts. Well passed the don't screw up. But I am at an age where I sometimes miss a shot. Perhaps, this shirt will make me more conscious.
Store owner replied:
Glad it resonated — though if you've been at it long enough to know you're missing shots, you're also at the stage where the ones you do get are worth ten of anyone else's (well mine anyway!). The shirt's just a reminder that luck favours the prepared. Appreciate the support — and the brilliant photo. Martin
When I saw the shirt in an Instagram ad I thought “Yep, that’s me!”. They shipped promptly and it looked exactly as advertised! Even after a wash the fit is perfect and the Tshirt and graphic are still vibrant! Highly recommend checking them out!
Store owner replied:
Anthony, love the photo - great to see it in its natural habitat next to a tripod and some stunning work on the wall. Glad it caught your eye on Instagram and even happier it survived the wash test. That's the real benchmark. Thanks for the support and the kind words, really appreciated.
Martin
Aperture Threads
None of these pictures were taken with a cell phone!
Store owner replied:
Bob, this is absolutely brilliant — thank you for this!
That wall of real photography behind you tells the whole story, doesn’t it? Monument Valley, golden aspens, a beautiful sunset, even a moon sequence… love it.
Really glad you’re enjoying the shirt — and thanks again for the review and the photo. Genuinely made my day.
Martin
I wear it at the Mercado where I sell my Black and White images of the Sonoran Desert
Store owner replied:
This is fantastic — thank you for sharing the photo, Lance.
Seeing the Zone System worn while selling black & white work is exactly the spirit behind the design. Wishing you great light and good conversations at the Mercado.
— Martin
The shirts are high quality and the printing is very well done.
I give Martin 5 stars for a most wonderful product. Shipping was fast and absolutely no problems thru out the entire process! Will buy again and would recommend to all fellow photogs! Thanks Martin!!
Store owner replied:
Thanks Kevin. Anyone who picks the Tri-X + D-76 shirt either still shoots film or misses it badly, and either way it's landed with the right person. Glad it arrived fast and the print passed inspection. The recommending-to-fellow-photogs part is the bit that keeps a one-man operation going, so thank you for that too. Martin
The quality of the t-shirt is excellent, sizing (3X) is comfortable and standard, the screen print quality is excellent. Communication on delivery status was good. I’d definitely recommend this company.
Store owner replied:
Thanks Vicky. Glad the 3X fits as a 3X should; sizing is the thing I worry about most on the heavyweights. Carry A Big Lens is a favourite of mine, and a recommendation means more than the stars. Martin
The shirts run tight. Should have ordered a large.
Store owner replied:
Size charts, like light meters, are only a suggestion. Email me and a large goes out — keep the one you've got, nothing to post back. Martin
Store owner replied:
Thanks Barbara — quality is the thing I fuss over most, so that's good to hear. Martin
The shirts might be more expensive than your usual casual shirts but these are made to last. My husband loved his birthday gifts but especially since he is a camera man the subjects were something he related to greatly.
Store owner replied:
Thanks Lauren — you've hit on exactly the trade-off I bang on about. They cost a bit more because they're printed to survive actual wear, not one wash. Glad the birthday went down well, and glad the designs landed with a proper camera man. He's among friends. Martin
Love the material, color and quality of this shirt. The length is perfect and I like to fit around the neck - snug. I'm normally a large/Xtra large and I like this shirt is the heavy material in extra large. The only thing I would change is I'd make the sleeves a bit tighter.
Store owner replied:
Thanks John — glad the heavyweight is doing its job. That snug neck and the extra weight are exactly why I stock it. Noted on the sleeves; fit feedback like this genuinely shapes what I carry. Martin
I bought several of these shirts for my husband to wear during a photography training, and he received so many compliments! The designs look great, the quality of the shirts is excellent, and everything exceeded our expectations. On top of that, the customer service has been absolutely exceptional—friendly, helpful, and attentive. We are extremely happy with every purchase and would 100% recommend this shop. We will definitely be purchasing more in the future!
Store owner replied:
Thank you Mayra — this made my day. Compliments at a photography training is the best possible field test for these designs. Your husband clearly has good taste. Martin
FAQ
What is your Return Policy?
If I sent you a lemon — wrong size, bad print, damaged in transit — I fix it immediately. Nothing needs returning. I'd rather you were out shooting than standing in line at the post office.
What size would fit me best?
We have a detailed size chart on every product page—check that first.
Sizing varies between product types: our Classic Tees run true to standard US sizing, Heavyweight Tees (Comfort Colors) run boxier and slightly larger, and hoodies follow standard US sizing which tends generous.
When in doubt, compare measurements to a garment you already own and love.
All products are ultra-soft, pre-shrunk, and designed to be comfortable whether you're hauling gear in the field or stuck in a long editing session.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes — I ship to Canada, Australia, the UK, New Zealand, and most countries worldwide. Everything is printed and shipped from the USA. International delivery runs 5–28 business days, depending on where you are and how customs is feeling that day.
Will I get a tracking number for my order?
Once your order ships you'll get a tracking email, so you can follow the parcel all the way to your door.
What materials are your products made of?
Two shirts.
The Classic Tee — lightweight ringspun cotton, true to standard US sizing. The
Heavyweight Tee — garment-dyed, heavier fabric, broken-in feel from day one; runs slightly boxier.
Both made with US-grown cotton, printed to order in the USA. Full measurements are on every product page — when in doubt, compare against a shirt you already own and love.
